About CCA Skidaway
The Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) is a non-profit National Organization made up of coastal state chapters from the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf of Mexico coasts. CCA members are dedicated outdoor enthusiasts who want to conserve our natural resources. We are involved in a variety of activities that include sport fishing, boating, and conservation and environmental programs. CCA provides its members with a strong local, state and national voice regarding conservation of marine resources. CCA in its advocacy role is working on many legislative efforts to fund habitat conservation projects along the Georgia coast.
In the 2016 legislature CCA worked to pass a bill to create a tag for vehicles that would allow $20 of the $25 tag costs to go to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to fund habitat projects in near shore and inshore waters. In 2016 four habitat creation and refurbishment projects were completed. Additionally, in recent years CCA has worked to designate our popular Redfish as a gamefish species and protect it from being exploited commercially. CCA continues to work with oyster reef restoration projects to protect and improve the habitat for this keystone species.
CCA members contribute substantial amounts of time, energy and money to these efforts.
The net proceeds from this evening’s event will support CCA’s state conservation efforts.
Conservation and preservation are gifts our generation leaves for our children and their children.
